Jackson accordingly gave Mitchell his freedom. I Freeman was brought to the dames , Walker Memorial hospital treatment ; immediately after he was wounded, but J died Wednesday afternoon. Mitchell, until given his freedom by the jury, I was held without bond. He was met | by Sheriff Jackson on Monday after- | noon en route to the city to give him self up following the shooting of Free- j man. I After hearing all witnesses in the case Thursday morning, the coroner’s] Jury reuturned the following verdict:] “That Rufus Freeman came to his death j as a result of a bullet piercing his ] heart, the same being fired by Dan ] Mitchell In defense of his person and | home; and ih bur opinion this is a case of Justifiable homicide."
